Bulova Collection Websites and mybulova.com

I'm very proud, if you will, of all the work and efforts members of mybulvoa.com put into this website, it's goals, and the resultant body of Bulova information to which this site contributes.  Many old "facts" and ideas have been supplanted with new.  Look around the various watch discussion forums, collectors websites, and few websites which deal with Bulova horology, and you'll be hard-pressed to see a website where Bulova model ID'ing and history isn't being rewritten with the help of MyBulova.com and it's members.

Old Movement, Strange Symbol

Submitted by NOVA on May 2, 2012 - 8:02pm

I picked up this old pocket watch conversation just because I was curious about it, and I have some questions for you movement experts in the forum.

The dial looks like authentic old Bulova to me, and so does the movement, but the case is more recent and not Bulova, so I think we should just leave that out of the discussion for now.  My question really has to do with a symbol on the movement.

The movement is a 10 A.I., 15 Jewels, 3 Adjustments, Swiss, serial no. 74417.

Academy Awards "X" with hangtag, and some now-known misconceptions

Submitted by William Smith on May 2, 2012 - 6:29pm

I was browsing the message forum board on the NAWCC. I found a short article about the Academy Awards watch series.  It had a couple interesting pictures.  One of which is an AA "X" with hangtag.  While one can never know if the hang tag came with the watch (ignoring any strap- of course) it's still an interesting photo in light of recent AA variant "X"  discussions.  Also note some statements in the AA summary post we now know to be dated and incorrect information (last AA sold in 1952, AMPAS/Bulova lawsuit).

1958 Unknown

Submitted by el tel on May 2, 2012 - 1:52pm

The watch is dated 1958 with a 17 jewel movement number 11AC.  The case number is D202415 and is 10k RGP. The nearest matching case to this is a 1957  Ambassador F which is a white RGP bezel and the same movement .  There are a number of Ambassador watches listed in the index without an actual watch . I am wondering whether this is an unknown Ambassador model . Have done the usual searches and come up with nothing.

Bulova self winding

Submitted by Roadtoad on May 2, 2012 - 9:44am

Hello to the forum,

I bought a job lot of watches at auction and one of them is a Bulova self winder. It has no other information as to the model. The front is gold plated, now wearing through in places. The backplate says that it is waterproof, shock resistant and anti magnetic. It also says swiss under the No 6 at the bottom. I dont think it will be that valuable the glass is crazed and it doesn,t work but I would like to find out which one it is if I can.

New Site Feature

Submitted by NOVA on May 1, 2012 - 6:43pm

Has everyone noticed the latest new feature that Stephen added?  Now, when you search the watch database for a specific characteristic, you get results for all watches, not just watches with an assigned model name.  So, for example, if you search on 1955, you'll get all the watches entered for that date, regardless of whether the watch has a specific name.  The same is true when you search by movement, etc.  You no longer have to search the "known" and "unknown" watches separately.

I thought I had seen this one before, but I can't seem to locate it. The Lugs look like those on the 1942 "ENGINEER"

GS Crystal CMT360-11 is a perfect fit. It is a BULOVA Crystal, but here is no name designation on the package.

1965 Unknown Bulova watch

Submitted by jass05 on April 30, 2012 - 11:56pm

Hello all

I am new to this site and to Bulova watches.  I got this watch at an auction and was trying to find out what it is.

The serial on the back is 617677

The stem is missing (hope to find a place that can repair with original part)

14k white gold

the face says BULOVA below the 12 and 23 above the 6

there are 5 diamonds on each side where the band attaches to watch

23 Jewels

5AR is stamped on the inside back of the watch face.

M5 is stamped on the inside back also making this a 1965 I believe.
