Does anyone out there know what type and gauge of wire is required to repair the hinges on 1920s-early 1930s cases? Any advice on doing the repair?
Thanks!
So I recently bought a 1926 Empress but it is missing 2 of the sapphires... I would really like to find a place where I could buy replacements. Did a little research and apparently they are .03 carats in a bagguette shape. Google has failed me! Anyone have any good ideas? I would even look into replacing all 4 with a less expensive blue stone (must match the blue winder).
recently purchased a 218 accutron. it was a retirement piece from the mead corp. its a beautiful piece well kept, engraved with the guys name and the 25 years of service and the dates. actually has the word mead at 6 oclock. my problem is while it hums fine the hands dont turn. i have copies of both the 214 and 218 repair manuals i dont quite understand the terminology. while im quite prolific with a manual wind, even to the point a local jewerly store calls me in from time to time this is more than this ole hacker can handle.
hello i have an old banker 1928, the case has a small dent about a millimeter dia. . i was wondering what tools i could use to remove the dent..i am afaid of making it worse though...i was hoping someone had some tips and hints on removing dents...i would leave it alone but its dead center on the top of the bezel....i just don't want to muck it up....i was thinking maybe some type of dentist picks or something simliar..
The techinque with out using a hairspring vibrator...This is something i really would like to learn.1 because if i ever ruin a hairspring,i would be like to repair it...2 To just have the know how and the skill and 3 to repair watches that have bad hairsprings with out buying a parts movement...Has anyone have and tips on where there is good instruction on doing this...has anyone tried this before...i know where to get blank hairsprings which are kinda cheap....any help i will be extremely grateful for on how to start learning and working on this....
Does anyone know whereI can get some new hands and a balance wheel for my air warden, the hands have corroded thru where the luminous paint would have been (is this normal).
ps I am a newbie but lovin the Bulovas!!
Aquired an Accutron 214 of unknown History late last Year. Installed a new Accucell (correct voltage) and it started to hum and run flawlessly. I checked on it about a Week ago and it had lost time, which was very unusual as it had ran perfectly. Now it still hums (louder?) but the Hands are not moving - is this a clean and service issue?
I have removed the Battery.
Thanks.
Hi,
Could anyone tell me how to determine which crystal I need for the N4 Jet Star? Is there a way of matching a crystal to a case by number? I have found a seller on ebay, and all the round crystals are in original packaging and listed with reference numbers like PA462-10 etc...
My case has the following markings:
T0036433 N4 and on the inside T-3081
My mom has a Bulova watch with a Duchess watch band that my late dad gave her. I think around 1965. She would really like to start wearing the watch again but needs more links to make it larger. I'm wondering if anyone knows where and/or how I could find more links.
The back of the watch has the following printed on it:
Bulova M5
10K R.G.P. Bezel
Stainless steel back
Y100781
The band has the following printed on it:
Duchess
1/20 1OK GF TOP
Pat #2848864
