Tip for cleaning up your dial

I picked up this 1955 Watertite?? at a local auction with a bunch of others, nice case, great running, but had a real ugly dial and well worn crystal.

I tried glass cleaner, soapy water and could not get the gunk off. The better half suggested I add a little white vinegar to hot soapy water, so I did and like magic it lifted it right off!

I just picked this up and will add to the database when it arrives. Sellers description:

This lot contains a very interesting Bulova teaching aid for the Bulova mechanical 10BM man’s 23 jewel wristwatch movement. This is a ten-page booklet that shows how to disassemble and reassemble a mechanical 10BM man’s wristwatch movement. This booklet was produced by Bulova and gives the name of each and every part. This is a very interesting teaching device and a very informational booklet for the up and coming watch repair person.

Has any one had good luck using a automatic oiler...I dont know about the one size fits all on them...and unless your a heroin addict or something i don't really have too many needles lying around...can someone help me...thanks ahead of time....

Mysterious Bulova Accutron

Well, mysterious to me... Pictured below is my PhD advisor’s father’s watch. I am told it is a 1967 model 214 Accutron. This is the only memento left to my advisor by his father so as you can imagine it has the utmost in sentimental value. While wearing it, the plastic “crystal” popped off and needs replacing.
