New to the forum, for some reason I can't seem to post to the repair forum.

I'm looking for some referals to get my 1961 Snorkel repaired.  I am in the San Jose CA area, but I'm not opposed to mailing it in to somebody with a good reputation.

Thank you.

Hi all

I have finally managed to get one of th movements working again, and it run for over 24 hours and keep good time.

Of the other two one seems completly stuck and the other still wont run but the balance seems to be ok , so maybe its just wound too  tight, so hopeully a "REAL" watchmaker can get it going again.

Regards to all

George

vintage snorkel NOS 714AWD glass developing tiny material stretches after mounting

I had this 714AWD glass for some time and last week I decided to have a watch maker mount it on my vintage snorkel 666 ft (714 case). The glass developed some very tiny stretches that looked like very tiny 1mm scratches, so I decided to try polish the glass with polywatch but after a lot of rubbing and what seemed successful removal the stretches came back after just 3 hours, in the same positions as before. Also, the whole glass is now covered in very thin hairline cracks that I can see in the sun moving the watch. I guess this glass is somewhat "cooked".

1969 Accutron 218D advice needed please

Greetings , ive been given my father's watch and i would really like to get it running again. I have spent some time reading and realize im out of my depth to a large extent, hence my request for advice. This watch was left dormant for around 10 years while not running , my parents could not find anywhere to look at it. It is a 1969 218D. I did not find it difficult to remove the locking ring and back cover plate , i bought a new power cell from the recommended seller and replaced the cell and back cover.

Will has contacted me.

I received an email from Will and he has been in and out of the hospital and is now back at home. He changed cell phone carriers and is limited in what he can do to answer emails so he has been kind of out of touch.

He will get back to all of you as soon as his antibiotics kick in and he improves.

Princine 6N Repair

So I thought I was making good progress with my 1924 Princine 6N repair - case and dial cleaned, new glass fitted...

Given the age of the movement, the intended use as a dress watch, and my complete lack of experience, I wasn't terribly concerned about accuracy - just a watch which would run for a reasonable period of time at a speed approaching 1 hour per hour!

1959 or 60 American Clipper

I have a 1959 or 60 American Clipper that I need serviced. The watch runs fine but a clean and lube is far overdue Im sure. I am also missing the back gasket and a crystal polish wouldnt hurt my feelings either. I am in Richmond Va so if anyone knows a reliable place I could bring or send it I would appreciate the information. I have gotten one estimate from a local shop that may be able to do it but for just a clean and lube they want 250 plus and would not b able to get to it for at least 2 months.

Routine Service and Repair for 1943 Commodore

I will start by expressing my gratitude for assistance in identifying my 1943 Commodore that I just recently posted. I learned a great deal from this website and its members, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process.

Now, I'd like to maintain and service this watch on a regular basis and I'd appreciate advice on where to have this done. I live in Portland, Oregon, but I have no objection mailing the watch somewhere if that's recommended.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
