GOOD news (I think)...

The original dial and hands have been found. As an Accutron novice, I don't know how this reflects on the model number or other details.

Black dial

Thanks, Astro! I am in favor though of having the clear crystal (no dial) instead. The black face does look kinda sexy. I haven't seen that particular dial on any other Accutron pictures. As soon as I get the case back from Bob Piker (yikes!) I will proceed with re-assembly (did not send him the movement, thankfully).

Bob Piker is very knowledgeable with Accutron watches and trustworthy, You could do far worse then him for Accutron work, The volume of work he gets means on any given day he's very busy so a bit of patience is required if you send him work...

If you don't mind me asking why did you send him just a case? restoration work?

"clear crystal (no dial) instead" Do you mean keeping it as a quasi spaceview without a spaceview crystal???

There are sooo many watches like that on ebay at any given moment it's kind of sad BUT I'm not a Accutron zealot so if that's what you want who am I to say otherwise?

Since we now have found the original dial, I'd agree the watch would look snazzy with that dial in place. I also like the Spaceview look (no crystal). So (if I ever receive my case back), we could remove the spacer and include the original dial. Now, to only find a reputable, reliable Accutron watchmaker.

Adding the dial back is prob one of the easiest procedures for that watch other than a gasket set change...

If you don't mind me asking did you say where you are located?

After inquiring in several forums and reviewing his website, I decided to send my case to Piker for crystal replacement. Other forums mentioned Rob in Thailand (!?!), M. Marcus (pricey) and Piker. Piker and I had a lengthy email conversation about that entire, seemingly simplistic job and he seemed convincing. While his early email responses were lucid and prompt, and he quickly cashed my check in 4 days (!). It's going on 3 weeks now and I still do not have my case back. He's been responding with 'can't find your case (!!)', 'probably already shipped your case', etc.

Then, 4 days ago he 'found' my case in a box ON HIS FLOOR! Said he would mail it to me, but no promise of when. Today, 4 days later, I still have no tracking number, for which I paid him an additional $15 to ship insured Priority. And I still have no reimbursement from him. If I didn't live 1200 miles from him, I'd walk over and get my case in person.

Thankfully I did NOT include the movement in the case - only the case and backing. The situation is out of my hands for the time being (hint).

So Astronaut (assuming you are not B. Piker), you stated he 'is trustworthy'. If there are worse than Piker (who cashed my check AND has my personal property [theft]), we need to close the forums because any recommendation would net me the same result, no worse.

Yeah, I'm angry about his performance and him being a fraud. Oh - forgot to mention, this Accutron case is a family heirloom from 1966. So my dad is also disappointed in me for my loosing HIS dad's watch!
