Watch Description

I've searched the data base and the closest I can come is in the second page of the adverts' slide #10 but I can't make it out well enough to tell. It has a hinged case that say's Pat. Jan. 11 1927, Bulova 14K Gold Filled, New York. Case measures 26.75mmx26.75mm. The 9AT movement has a dust cover.

I agree with admin, the Dial is a re-dial and cannot be factored in.

Fact: Case and Jewel count match 100%.

2 tick "SENATOR"

Square V Rectangular? How does that factor in?

Large round sunken sub dial V small square sub dial? How does that factor in?

Even if the case was a perfect match, with the re-dial it would be non-conforming, and it has to be factored in, as it is a part of the watch.

The only exact matches are the jewel count, the lugs and the engraving.

I'll say this once and then go silent. This is not a Senator. The dial may have been refinished and the guide book have have been wrong but there is one fact that differentiates this  watch from the Senator and that is geometry. The sub seconds track could not have been MOVED in a redial, it's recessed. The guidebook shows it completely below the horizontal bar of the minute track. The subject watch is so much SMALLER (forget about square or rectangle) than a Senator that the sub seconds track has to straddle that minute track. Additionally, this watch has a 9 AT movement - think geometry - it's SMALLER than the Senator, which I would venture to guess had a 10 XX movement.

Fabulous watch, I love this watch, I want this watch but it is an Unknown model. Final Answer.

Seems like the jury is out on this one. So we will just have to wait for a 1928 advert to show us the light.

Subject watch is 9 ligne and seems to fit tight.   The other Senator we have in DB takes a 10AN, also fitting quite tight (no case dimensions in this record).  I agree w/ Geoff-seems subject watch is a little smaller.

Unknown for now...

Help any?

from the 1928 advert Bobbee just posted in the 20s ads forum.

That side scrolling looks to match..although we have the same issue with the sub-seconds dial position.

Saw three altogether, this was the best one. All three from the same jeweler and in the same paper over two months.
Still the same dimensional problems, but this backs up the senator ad in DB and the price guide.

Not seeing any 'dimensional problems'.

When the ad is layed out in photoshop the Case measures 4.75 x 4.75 non inclusive of the Lugs or Crown.

A Square.

Will,

The 'other Senator' in the database is dated 1926.

The Subject Watch and subject ads are Dated 1928.

Apples and Oranges.

That is because you have "cheated" with the side to side measurement.

The ad pic is actually angled to show the side of the case and lugs, as the crown can be seen as an oblate circle in your blow-up, and your measurement starts at the back of the case, not the actual side edge.

Try measuring the dial in the blow-up pic, that will give you a crystal measurement with no cheating, and on my screen it measures 87.5mm. X 80mm.

A Rectangle.

Nice try, though your Geometry 101 must have been poorly attended LOL.:^)

EDIT:- That gives us three different pics giving a rectangular case and crystal, and the geometry of the sub-dial position and size makes it rather awkward to fit, too.

Geometry 101 was a breeze, not sure where You attended School.

If the Case and Dial of the subject Watch and the Ad isn't Square then I don't know what is....

jeesh.
