Purchased this watch from the States about 6 weeks ago - 10k RGP - musical note like lugs. I had the back off and there was a retainer to hold the movement tight in the case. This was spring like and it was a devil of a job to get back - I forgot to make a note of the movement number. I don 't feel inclined to have another look!
Marked Bulova Self Winding 23 Jewel. Black face with starburst pattern. Center sweep second hand. In perfect working order, keeps perfect time. One small scratch on glass, scratches to back screw off are only real flaws. Speidel band. Obviously has been cleaned, etc recently as condition does not show the age. Interior screw off back marked Stainless steel. Swiss. Bulova Watch Co. L8
The BULOVA "GRAMATAN," Circa 1950. Perhaps the namesake originated in Mt. Vernon, New York?
"The original off white dial shows a little ageing, but as you can see from the photos, it's rather minimal. Embossed gold Arabic hour markers and black minute track. The gold hands are in excellent condition, sub second dial at six. Fancy lugs 10k gold filled case in superb condition, no gold loss or damage of any kind. 8AC 17 jewel movement. Dimensions: 23mm excluding crown: 34mm lug to lug." This superb and scarce to rare watch, is currently available at the link, hereafter:

What is the Boac movement? Have a black face L8 (1958?) 23 Jewel Self Winding Bulova watch. Can anyone give me more information on it
Unfortunately, I am unable to upload a pic now, but here is the description:
10k gold filled case, with 5 diamonds at each corner, case is 1-3/32 square, 1" between lugs, bezel is fine check finish, not smooth; face has diamond at 12, 3, 6 and 9. Face is oval, 7/8" high, by 1" across; hands are gold fancy filligree style; crown is bulova; on the back is M4 (1964, I think), 10Kgold filled, across from that is the number H214845; The movement appears to be a cheaper type (3 jewel) with the number 10BZC, and Bulova USA on the plate.
Sweeet.... I love change.
In the early 70's Christian Dior, a well known fashion designer, designed a limited edition line of watches for Bulova. I've searched the net and written docmentation concurs that the event did indeed take place, but images a few and far between. I recently had opportunity to aquire a 'Bulova Dior' and did so, a ladies version with the intent to restore and sell, we shall see as I haven't found it in Me to sell one of the watches I've purchased, restored to date. This one may be easier to let go, matching shoes could be an issue.
: )
Perhaps a 1928 Senator, Executive, or ??? I recently acquired this watch in a "lot" of misc. Bulova+ watches. The patent stamp dates it to at least 1927, so I'm guessing it's a '27 or '28... since I'm not planning on disassembling it, to find out... and it's likely too plain, for a 1929 15J model ?! :-)
I'm only posting it now, as I just reviewed Stephen's post on the '28 Senator... and this one adds to the confusion... at least for me, at this late hour!? The case proportions are more in line with the Senator, as is the three "X" pattern ecos th three "flowers," vs. the single floral motif, on the Executive... as per Wayne's research.
And the case is larger than the Exec. (L: 27.2 x 26.8mm :W) BUT... Wayne also commented that the top and bottom on the Senator (bezel/s?) weren't engraved... so perhaps this case design is an exception? Or maybe an entirely different model, altogether??
PLEASE SEE: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1928-Executive-56 for reference.
The crystal proportions are approx. L: 21.8 x 19.8mm :W. However I don't see the glass in the 1929/30 K-K catalog, nor in the 1939 G-S acrylic catalog? My crystal data abyss is currently 1931- 1938. If anyone has any crystal catalogs from this timeframe... I'm DEFINITELY willing to BARTER some info?!
Below are two quick images of this ugly MUTT in it's present "as is" condition... Any help before it is replated several times, redialed (luminously) and rebuilt... would be appreciated!
THANKS in ADVANCE :-)
