Hi, I purchased this watch about 20 years ago because I liked it and am not looking to sell it. I'm updating my insurance and my husband thinks this watch is actually 14kt gold and not gold filled like I had thought. It is stamped 14kt gold on the back of the case. The watch is in like new condition and runs and keeps decent time. It has a cobalt blue face and has a diamond bezel. The watch is really quite small and I think it dates to the 1970's just by looking at it. It's white gold, which was more unusual for that time period.

Accutron Quartz battery

Purchased an Accutron Quartz for my daughter. It was running when we bought it, but I noticed it was losing at least an hour a day and then it died a few days later.

On the back cover is the direction to use Bulova cell 247. I purchased a Renata 284 (7.9 x3.6mm) as that is supposed to be the available equivalent, but it was too tall to fit in the watch.

I was able to get a Renata 297 (7.9x2.6mm) into the battery well, however its still losing about an hour a day.

Hi

Recently I picked up one of these vintage pieces in perfect operating condition. Can anyone help in how to date the year of manufacture? Can't seem to find it on the forum's search function. Is there any way to learn its history/provenance? Many thanks!

The serial # is 18313. Version is 6433A. Movement, I think, is 10BNCH

Black dial with gold, radium?

Submitted by KodachromeCrawford on January 21, 2022 - 5:01pm

Hello everyone! Just received a ladies Bulova, it has a black dial and gold numerals. I have no idea of the model, I believe the back case has been replaced as there is nothing engraved. When I asked previously I was told that this would make it most likely non-conforming. So my issue is this, I want to open the case and look at the movement (to help with identification) but now am worried that it could be a luminous (radium) dial. I'm going to try to attach a photo. Any help or info is greatly appreciated ! Thanks!
