Interesting Watch - No name or printed information on the dial. The back has full Bulova infromation on perimeter including the name BULOVA, Stainless steel back, Anti-magnetic, Shock resistant, Self-winding, Water Tite . Centre surface includes Bulova Quality and L4 for 1954 plus the case serial number noted above. In the advert information on this site the Christmas ad for 1954 shows a very similar watch with a scolloped edge around the dial; however, the face states Bulova, 23 Jewel, Selfwinding. It is named as a Bulova 23 Jewel. I am as always very interested in your opinion.
Probably a Bulova 23 that has had the dial cleaned. The numbers come off easily, and with a heavily textured dial such as this, I have seen them brushed off, leaving the dial more or less as we see it here, with virtually no trace of the former markings.
My guess would be a Bulova 23.
I'm going with the "23" ID as well. All the indications as the "B" variant (below) but the "B" has a white dial. Missing the dial markings I would also venture that it's a refinish. Honestly, it doesn't look bad this way, I kind of like it.
