Watch Description

This watch was found in my late great grandmother's jewlery case. The back of the watch says:

14K GOLD

BULOVA L2

185292

The movement is a 5AD, with 21 purple jewels and it corresponds with the L2 dating on the case. The crown is a replacement, and says "Elgin."

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated! I am in love with this sweet watch, and would like to know more of it's story. And I know there's a mason charm  (as shown in one of the pictures) that doesn't belong to the original watch. I just don't have the heart to remove it yet. :)

Still wondering about the case style, because that seems to be the trickiest part to determine!

If you look at the last photo, bottom of case, the tang is visible, use a DULL object (finger nail sometimes works if the case is clean) to gentle pry up on thet tang untill the case moves a little then work it open from the other side (top) as these tiny cases are a tight fit. Be slow, patient and 'soft handed' and you will have no problem. You will need some magnification to read the markings, zoom on a digital camera works well...I know thats obvious but its suprising how many people post great zoomed pics up here and then post they cant read the markings lol

So I popped it open today. It is a Bulova movement, 21 jewels, and it LOOKS like it says 5AD. Or 5AO. one of the two.

That's great you were able to safely open.  Can you click on the edit tab for this record and add that info in the drop down and fill in spaces to include this info?  The 5AD would be correct for movement.  Did you see a date code on the movement?  Any chance of a movement picture?  Glad your finding out about your watch.  Thanks

Just as I suspected, now if you want an original signed "BULOVA" crown send me a private message with address details, white or yellow,  and I'll mail you one. Should be easily installed locally.

Stephen - I'm not sure I see the match although it does appear similar. I sure wish the advert was clearer.

I'll be slightly tentative on Pembroke ID

leaning toward Pembroke, the form is indisputable, but I have a problem with 21 jewels movement

Because of the 21 jewel movement and the ad doesn't say 14K I think the watch I have in the db is a better match for the Pembroke https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1951-pembroke-9285

The design is definitely similar but the lug design looks longer on this watch.  I think this watch would have been at a price point closer to the Her Excellency "U" at $125 or the AA "C" at $115
