Watch Description

Hello,  I picked up this watch to go with my nurse type watches.  It is 10K rolled gold plate with a sterling base and stainless back.  This seems to be a 1943 combo for the war effort.  I didn't notice the damage on the dial in the listing but it isn't too horrible.  I didn't want to open the watch with the radium so using a few of the sellers photos with permission.  So what are your thoughts?  A nurse watch or maybe a practitioner with the lumed military style dial?  A ladies or mens watch?  It has a 14mm lug width which I have seen on both.  I didn't find an ad to match so it might be another unknown.  Thanks.

I'm more inclined to say 'Unknown' inline with this watch, which is the same a the subject and the watch listed as a Air Warden above.

My concern with calling this a Bulova Air Warden is that we have no adverts showing the centre sweep hand version. They all contain a sub-6 dial.

It might be one one the many ex-'service' watches that were sold to the public during this period.

My thoughts too, I'm wondering if the linked watch needs to be reconsidered as well?

I think for consistency it would be good for them to all to be Air Warden or Unknown.  Maybe a tentative Air Warden.

I would be inclined to agree with Unknown without an ad to show the variation.  The government surplus watch is 16 jewel in the one ad and all the Air Warden ads have the sub-dial.  On watchophilia she has one and does state it is the exact same case as the Air Warden.  So it very well might be a dial option that wasn't advertised.  I would say it is probably not a nurse watch with this information.

I don't think it is an Air Warden, and possibly the other watch is not either.

Unknown for me.

The Air Warden has 15 jewels and these have 17 jewels.  For that reason I would say they are not a match.
