Bulova 1943 American Nurse

Good afternoon,

My name is Marissa Pacheco, I go by Missy. This is my great-grandmother's watch: Janet Gladys Van Eck. Who was married into the Smarr family from her husband Wyatt Cecil Smarr, who she met while in the Army serving as a Surgeon nurse. She joined the Army because she wanted an education. Her close friends and family would call her Net, and I believe she was called Van in the Army. She had 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. She was the 7th to be born to Janet Klomp and Thomas Van Eck, and was the only woman in her family to serve in the Army. She left with the title of Captain Janet Smarr. She and I were very close, as she helped raised me while my mom worked. I came across this link when I saw her picture pop up when doing some digging on my great-grandfather's side of the family (they have a small part of land named after them in Georgia, which I was planning to visit). I was surprised to see this, as my grandmother never threw away ANYTHING, especially that had any monetary or sentimental value. She had my crib in her back room until I was at least 16.

When I was young, she used to tell me that while she was serving across the pond, there was a lot of bombing, as close as the next tent over. I'm assuming this is how it was probably lost and then found in the aftermath and has been passed along since then. She unfortunately died some years ago, and suffered with Alzheimer's and Dementia. 

I understand you wanting to keep this with you, as you've just bought it recently. However, I would like to offer to buy it from you. At least get your money back for what you paid for it, and a little extra for the trouble. I have absolutely nothing with her Van Eck name on it, and would love to have this in her memory. I could provide pictures and such to prove she is my great-grandmother.
