I'll be adding a few new features to the site in coming days.
If you have any suggestions that may help the community at large - not individuals :-) please don't hestitate to make a comment below. No idea is a dumb idea....well...some are...
Stephen,
GOOD IDEA for a Forum Post! (I already mentioned a few, so WHO ELSE HAS SOME IDEAS???
Hmmm... "Not individuals?" So inc. the "guts" here into a broader "Portal site" architecture (i.e. ALSO monetizing from one angle or another... whilst also still providing the same info. and service, free of charge + a forum...) is then not the goalplan, for 2011+ ???
Best :-) Scott
"Some sort of search-able cross reference between known model's and their known crystal dimensions"
That way if someone has a calipers they can type in the dimensions of their crappy crystal and WALLAH... they now know what their watch is?
Also it will give the rest of us the idea of which watch crystal to google/search for our watches.

Or another sub section such as the Advert one that has PDF files of Crystal catalogues? I have the 60th and 90th G-S editions on PDF, both have a search feature. Not sure how these would be hosted however.
The 1952 can be found online also along with pdf of other makes I believe.....just a thought.

How' bout I fill in the blanks... IF the concept is "monetized?" I've already spent 3000+ hours IDing the crystals and dozens more models for this brand, and several others... I also have the site architecture "construct," visualized... And it's far more EVOLVED than mere photos and crystal specs.!!! (Or any site online, to date, for that matter...)
But who is going to "invest," to afford Stephen to develop the more refined BULLY PORTAL? I'm willing to contribute the ideas, aesthetic design inputus, even "fill in most of the blanks" and ID more models, source and supply crystals, etc. But there MUST ALSO BE an "incentive" for people to CONTRIBUTE MORE... (Like an "all in one" PORTAL site, perhaps? Info, input, parts, accessories and resale. i.e. The whole enchilada...)
And frankly if anyone here thinks they are simply going to somehow PROPERLY ID many more models with less than 50+ 1920s- 1960s crystal catalogs and also many catalog supplements (with at least one full catalog, from about every other year) dozens of vintage watch ads and./or jewelers catalogs AND thousands of well ref. images... then you're being overly optimistic, I think :-)

Ok... I might be warming up to a variation this idea... as in this "economy," crystals simply AREN'T SELLING, very well ! (And I have around 1000+ mens Bulova crystals, alone...) But the easiest way to ID'em (in any quantity) is take up a collection... THEN I could finally SOURCE the remaining/depleted 20s- 1960 +/- crystals and also more catalogs (since I know where to source ALL of the missing ones, and know what they are!) then people could alternately just send me the old crystals and/or bezel and I ID the models??? (PSYCH...)
And someone really needs to razz the Saturday Evening Post, etc. vintage ad hoarders as well... to drum up a dozen or two+ more NEW ADS, so we also have BOTH "high res." originals to scan... (Some other ads than the usual ones, often on eBay... I have about a dozen+ of those from 1924- 60ish, myself!)

OK... The main issue here in my view... is having more DEFINED AREAS, for posting "unknown" and "verified" models, along with nuances... such as dial variants/sub models and the like... There should be a "wiki like" scroll for what Steve did with the Lone Eagle models... (open for discussion and image examples) and then eventually write- ups on the various models, as was done on the Lone Eagles... (i.e. TWO+ distincrt areas, as Jerin and I were discussing/suggesting, previously!)
What would make the most sense (in my mind) would be to have a 12- 24 image per (cloned webpage) of photos (i.e. clickable photo links) that illustrate the "unknown" models, either via image or sketch... Then if anyone spots one they know the model ID, etc. for... they can go to that "unknown model" page (by clicking on the image!) and add info. and visuals, accordingly... And those of us with DOZENS (or a few) can add- in a slew of other Bullys, previously unbeknownst to most/all... Then if say the production dates are known, I can likely ID a bunch more using catalogs. And others with vintage ads will get a few more, and so on...

Noel,
Check around for the thred explaining how to identify the manufacture date of Your watches. A date, a movement model number and a photograph are really all You need to get started, once the information is uploaded members will chime in and assist with model identification.

How about....
Next to the REPLIES column on the forums page we have a column for VIEWS....
So... we could have 50 views and 2 comments...
That way I at least know that someone has read my worthless thread before deciding not to post on it... rather than just wondering if anyone even read it?
