For Your Re-Consideration

Submitted by NOVA on May 24, 2012 - 6:13pm

As some of you will recall, a while back I posted a watch that had for it's only support a listing in the "Complete Price Guide to Watches".  It was a tonneau shaped model dated 1928 and listed as "The Ambassador" in the Price Guide.  The general consensus--though there was some notable descent--was that The Price Guide must be in error, because we all know that the Ambassador was square.  Some even argued that the Price Guide is full of errors, though when challenged to present an example of an error in the Bulova listings, no one did.

1963 what model, what's it worth, how much did it cost in 63?

Here is a pic of grandpaws watch that was passed down to me. It has  m3 on back which is a 1963 and seriel # is 407785. It is anti magnetic and shock resistant, and self winding. I dont think it has ever been serviced, however the number nine is upside down. I would really like to know how that happened because it doesnt look like it has been moved. It appears perfectly aligned. Would like to know what model, how much it cost new, how much its worth now and if a schematic or repair manual is available for it.

Identifying / Valuing a bulova Astronaut

Submitted by brice behringer on May 22, 2012 - 1:39pm

Hello.

I recently found my father's old Bulova Astronaut.

First, I'd like a positive ID on this watch.  The number suggests 1967 manufacture but can't figure out the serial number.  Where can I find more information on this watch?

Second, the crystal is pretty scratched up.  What would be the value of this watch and is it worth getting it repaired / cleaned up?  The battery is the old Rayovac but I don't think they make it anymore.  What is the best replacement battery?

Unknown Square rose gold

So this is my latest flea market find. Its a square 14k rose gold plate with a 15J 10AX from 1941. I cant find it in the ads, yet the case looks familiar to me. Problems it has:

Crystal is chipped and badly scratch, second hand is missing, crown is worn out, and it looks like someone ripped apart the balance (broken) as the hair spring is dislocated and roller is missing.

I have a generic rose gold crown,I think i have a second hand, and crystal to be found.

If anyone has a complete 10ax balance that used or donated PM me please.
