Case engraved on inside 'GUY FROM MABEL DEC. 25 1923'. Back case engraved 'GWC'
I've just serviced this beauty and she now runs pretty much perfectly which is a great pleasure to witness. Lost 10 seconds over 48 hours and that was not even adjusted when re-assembled.
All original parts with '8' stamped on the main plate, bridge and barrell bridge.
Movement plate stamp with serial number 1194674.
When I saw this watch for sale I was really keen to buy it and restored her as best I could back to beautiful working order. It feels great to hold and really has some weight to it.
I'm really hoping we can find some nice early adverts showing this pocket watch.
Gents, this is a beautiful watch, but I must nitpick, here.
5 adjustments is not the same as 5 positions. It is meant to confuse, and was used by many watch companies over the years. The standards as listed are very similar to modern chronometer spec. The five adjustments would be the variables adjustable, whereas the five positions with acceptable delta are listed above. Unadjusted watches would be free from certain tariffs as unfinished items, but to see the words 'unadjusted' usually means no such thing to the finished product. Companies would import the watch and do the final assembly and adjusting domestically.
This watch is fully jewelled with the jewels held in chatons, usually a good sign of quality. The micrometric regulator allows for easier and more precise adjusting.
I'm seeing '261' in Roman numerals, so the case back and case match. Excellent find, Stephen!

That's a beautiful watch Stephen, nice job on bringing it back. Think of everything this gem has seen in his 90 years. It's a shame you have to sell it.
Unknown until that elusive ad appears. Wait a minute, sell the watch to buy ads so you can ID the watch? KEEP THE WATCH - I'll make a donation so you can afford the ads.
It's the first day of spring - Annual myBulova Fund Raising Drive begins today (hey it's the first day of spring down under).
