I purchased this watch about two weeks ago at a real estate office that buys and sells estate items. I paid $15.00. The clutch was slipping, making it difficult to wind. So, I took it to a master watch repairman in Nashville, Tn. who replaced the defective part and cleaned my watch for $50.00 while I waited. (I don't think he did a deep cleaning, but I might be wrong. He had the watch for about an hour and a half.) It keeps excellant time and I enjoy wearing it. It came with a pretty nice 12K GF Forstner Komfit wrist band, too. Lucky me.
Thank you, honorable panel, for your time to look at my new found treasure. I really enjoy this web site and am happy that I found it. I was hoping that you were here. I have, I think, seen most of the watches that other members have shared. I enjoy and learn so many interesting things reading the comments that you make about the other models. The art of the vintage wrist watch has intrigued me since my father gave me his 1947 Hamilton "Russel" back in 1988, which I remember him wearing since I was a child in the '50s. (I gave it to my oldest son as a gift.) I did not just want to buy one outright at the going rate. I wanted to feel the adventure of the hunt knowing that at any time I might stumble across the lost or hidden or forgotten prize that ticks. It blows me away to think of the precise and delicate skill it requires to produce such an amazing instrument. (not to mention making the machines that make the little parts.) I salute you, watch makers, and watch lovers everywhere.
Thank you Landon for sharing your find...it won't be long and you will find another, then another, and everyone will think you lost your mind!...Don't worry, you are among friends suffering from the same incurable illness....
I would not worry about the dial scratches, it gives it a bit of character...
Welcome aboard!
