This style was made from 1940-49. It was available in a number of variants and Bulova didn’t make it easy to identify some of them. For the most part, the “A” had a leather strap and the “D” had the link bracelet . The “F” was 14k solid gold. However, one ad said the “F” was rose/red gold and the “E” was yellow gold. The ad that included the “E” said “expansion band”. One ad for the “F” specified 14k solid gold and a strap. Some ads did not indicate a variant at all. Whike that could be the original model, it could be the variant designation was just left out of the ad.

The confusion around the red/rose gold version led to the decision not to separate this model into the different variants. I would like to get an expansion band to go with this one.

Per Bulova, it seems that ID on this one had a lot to do with the band and year of production. These are a tough call, it's a

1940 Senator

and a nice example.

I did not include the long explanation to question which variant it was but to show I’d thoroughly researched this model and to concede it would simply be identified as a Senator. Since Bulova based the ID on the bracelet/strap, that gives me options as to which variant I want it to be. I like having options.

Based on how this watch is presented on a strap, could we not go one step further with the variant?

That’s a bit of a rabbit hole with this model. Will you be identifying all the others according to their variant?
