So the case signatures of 1928 for some Bulova are usually "New York", yet in some cases starting with 84 digits, we see the earlier "Am Std" signature, suggesting these cases share charactoristics of 1927.
Or should I just say this case may be from 1927 even though it has a SN starting with 8?
I see this one's listed as 1927 Manufacturer date now....and I certainly didn't update it in the last 2.5 years or so.
Should it be dated 1928 based on case serial number- to be consistent?
If we statistically look at all the case serials, we see that cases starting with 80 to 83 have a case signature with "New York" indicated and 1928 movements. In 1926 and 1927, the case signature was indicating "American Standard" that got replaced by "New York" in 1928. However, cases with number 84 to 86 all have American Standard, and NOT New York and come in 99% of the cases with a 1927 movement. For both men and woman watches. The only explanation I can come up with is that these cases from 84 to 86, despite the first digit being an 8, must be from 1927.
