This is a rather interesting one; appears to be a 1959 SVP. Movement dated L9 and case dated L7. In the original clamshell and cardboard box with jeweler string tag. Outer price sticker matches inner Bulova tag but this price doesn't match the period ad. From a jeweler's estate and represented to me as new old stock. Watch shows no signs of ever being worn.
Cool watch Bob - I have a collection of New Old Stock watches so anything unworn gets my attention. I think the watch is an SVP model but I don't think the clam shell case is original. SVP stood for Style, Value and Performance. These were inexpensive 17 j watches. From the advert we see it sold for $24.75, not the $45 shown in the case or on the tag. I also have a thought that SVP watches had their own dedicated style clam shell case although I could be wrong on that one.
1959 SVP
I agree with SVP, not sure the variant for this style has been identified in an ad, but crystal pack states 'VI' variant.
As Geoff mentioned, there were specific display boxes for this model line; here are a couple examples:

Sorry for the lapse on this one Ken, I forgot all about this one. Tag is a jeweler tag with only a hand written stock number on it. I kind of wonder if maybe the watch was put into this box with an inflated price and better band to get more for it; or it just got put into a box that resembled the original when it went into storage. Thanks for posting the pics of original boxes.
