Howdy,
Disassembling 10AK 21J movement and am unable to remove the canon pinion. Tried the usual presto tool, then stout tweezer, then pin vise. Won’t budge. Tried watch oil, clock oil, penetrating oil between center wheel and CP and soldering iron to apply heat hoping the oil will travel inside the CP. Have tried several rounds of this for a couple of days. All the tools will slip off while the CP stays put. Pinion is a closed top. Anyone have similar challenge or advice? Thanks.

I've been there....I usually get to a point were i feel it's safer just to leave it attached to the center wheel.
Good luck and I hope you are successful in removing and not breaking.
Hopefully someone here can point you in the right direction.....if there is one, as it sounds like you've done everything possible.

FYI,
Could not get anything I had to get in there and lever the part with. Plundered some more and tried using a smaller size pin vise than before on the CP. It seemed to grip better. I gripped down on the head of the vise with thumb and forefinger against the plate and sort of pinched it off. A miracle. Seemed to be evidence of corrosion. Made sure to have the train bridge on while doing this in order not to bend the center wheel shaft in the process of removal. Now it’s time for an adult refreshment I think. (Whew!) Thanks again for the responses.

Thanks. If I can get them to fit under one of the parts I'll give it a shot. Not optimistic. It is REALLY on there. Heat usually does the trick on screws, but..........................Got to come off one way or another. I do have spares in case of the worst. Appreciate the advice.
