What I believe I have here is a 1968 Snorkel, however it does not say "Snorkel" on the dial. Everything else points to a Snorkel, but I am unsure of the variation. Date code definitely puts it at 1968. Some Snorkels have "Selfwinding" on the dial and mine has "Automatic". Was Bulova inconsistent with what was put on the dials or do these slight variations appear at certain times in the manufacturing run? This has a tropical dial, creamy lume that still glows, "ballerina" case back. I picked it up yesterday and have been wearing it ever since. It's keeping great time

It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I would give a little update. This gem of a watch stopped working a week and a half after I got it. I let it sit for quite a while before getting it to a reputable watchmaker for repair. It is now in good hands with a guy I trust and I should have it back in about seven weeks. The watchmaker said it was dirty inside and had seen some moisture damage. The good news is he has plenty of the movements and the repair is only going to run about $150 dollars. I'm okay with that and I am looking forward to having the watch back on my wrist.
