Watch Description

I am new to this and know very about watches from this period. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This watch belonged to my uncle who was a WWII soldier. I wanted to confirm who made it and the year.

Hi Steve - welcome to myBulova, it looks like you've been smitten by the watch collecting bug. It's important to know a couple things about your watch as there appears to be no name on the case back or dial. Ca you help us by telling us what the information is on the movement and let us know if there's is anything imprinted inside the case.Photos would be most helpful.

Welcome to myBulova!  What a wonderful heirloom from your uncle.  As Geoff said with a lack of signature on the case or dial a photo of the movement would be most helpful.  If you do take the back off be careful not to disturb the dial and hands.  The radium is still active all these years later and is worth doing a little google on the subject or search the threads here.

I am not very comfortable taking the back off. I do apprecaite all your input. Can you confirm it's a WWII era watch? Do I need to take a more detailed picture of the face?

Thanks again!

Steve

Is the watch band correct for a WWII wrist watch?

Certainly a match for the other watch in the database. However with confirmation of the movement I wonder if other manufactures like Hamilton may have also been producing these military watches under contract fo the government.

At this stage I'd still say Bulova Military Issue.

Also suppect that the band would be original.

Hi Steve - what a nice keepsake from your uncle. It seems clear to me that the watch is WW II vintage but I would like to verify the maker before I assign it an ID. Is it possible to get it into a shop and have the back removed so you can photograph the components?
