Nice running watch has a mirror finish movement. Case has 2 steps on each side and to me most closely resembles a Senator, but with rope-like engraving on crystal sides like an Alexander. 17 jewel movement dated 1937 (arrow) which matches s/n as 1937. Case measures 25.5mm x 28.4mm not counting crown and lugs. Super clean with only the slightest hint of wear on tops of lugs. Same period new old stock band added by me.
Subject watch has a satin finish on front with polished sides as referenced in ad shown above.
As referenced in ad, here is what appears to be the white gold version with 15J movement and identical engraving.
here is engraving case of Senator , but dial has on advert another design, similar watch from 1935
Hi Jabs, good ad. It would appear to show the white gold 15J version. It is interesting though, that none of all the examples of this watch in the DB with engraving or no engraving has this face. All are like subject watch.
I wonder if the ad you show might be a mis-identified watch or an artist taking "artistic license". Watch pictured in ad has 3 steps on the sides rather than 2, more like an Alexander.
In reply to Hi Jabs, good ad. It would by neetstuf-4-u
In reply to you´re right ad has 3 steps by jabs
My guess would be the ad is supposed to represent a Senator with engraving, but pics got switched because they looked the same or it was quicker and easier to re-use another drawing instead of creating a new one (save money). The end consumer/purchaser of the watch would never know the difference, only seeing the basic shape of case, engraving and band.
In reply to I think it's a Senator. That by Reverend Rob
