DUDE...
In TIME, perhaps you'll know???
FYI: there are BOTH "upity" rationales... (as oft illustrated here... and in general... AND there are definitely guys planning on writing books, on ALL Vintage watch brands... There's no money in it... BUT there IS indeed an egotiste "head trip" involved...)
It's therefore nearly ALL "rationalization..." (Based on bias, limited knowledge, info available at the time, etc.) And there are 2+ "sides" to it... as I often POINT OUT here... And yet noone cares to get!? (Again, merely one's "rationale," at the time...) We ALL post the info. (You, I, Stephen, etc.) and others THEN think they OWN it, after the fact... Like THEY are then the "authority..." of understanding... in a quest to "make sense, of it all..." (Forgeting where they LEARNED what they profess to then "KNOW...") LOL...
The BOTTOM LINE is, was, will always BE... that we really DON'T know very much... BUT, unless you ALSO get into the "psychology" of WHY people think and do what they do/did... then HOW can you even begin to "GET" the LOGIC BEHIND their decisions? Let alone understand the "MINDSET of the marketers/advertisers on say Madison Avenue... Or the decision making going on at BULOVA, or the Jeweler running those ads back in the day... or even last week, for that matter???

An initial production Date for the 7AA would be interesting as I have a hunch it was produced exclusively for the 'ACADAMY AWARD' line of Watches.
It's just a hunch, but I've yet to see a 7AA movement Dated prior to A9 (1949) and all were placed in L0 stamped (1950) 'ACADAMY AWARD' Cases.
Scott,
Model #38102 Y (Yellow Gold) - the ACADAMY AWARD 'Y' variant seems to be the most expensive model produced at the time. - $115.00 as shown on this original Jeweler price sheet snipplet dated 1950.
7AA with an 'X' Dial perhaps?
: )

Mark,
GOOD POINTS... And I AGREE, on this one...
Shawn has always mentioned seeing these "7AA" movements manf. prior (as early as 1941?) which makes no logical sense, to me? And where ELSE were they then used... And in what other CASE/S?? I think he was referring to these same case designs, with movements dating earlier??? In which instance... I suspect they RATHER USED OLDER PARTS (from the parts BINS) to create the 7AAs... to collectively "use them up" (by design) on the "AA" (7AA) models... as 21Js weren't exactly CHEAP, to produce!?! (And the 7AK was the NEW 21J flagship, by 1950+ apparently? And ALL the cases were 1949/50 stamped, housing these '7AA" movements? (Or maybe a few 48s? But none earlier??)
:-) Scott
No offense is meant but I'm still skeptical of a 7AA dated prior to A9 as the parts movements above are not shown in an original watch.
It's possible a 7AA bridge could have been used on an older 7AP, 7AK or 7AH to make a working movement giving the impression of an earlier dated 7AA.
On another note, perhaps this ad is a misprint. If we're going to question everything or be skeptical about everything presented on this site consider this,
The ladies watch is the AA "N" model and the men's should be " His Excellency". Who's to say the printsetter didn't screw up?
Sorry all, but who's to say, perhap's this ad says an aweful lot more behind the lines that what's printed on the page!
