I am wondering if there is a part number for the crystal to a 1948 Arnold? Please excuse my ignorance as I am still green as a granny smith apple when it comes to vintage Bulovas!

I would say that the optics are all about the same on glass crystals when you compare standard thickness types to each other. With the high profile and cylinder styles you start to get some distortion.
As for fit, that would depend on the watch case to some extent and the crystal manufacturer . Also the age of the watch. Most glass crystals require some fitting. I have a fitting guide that can help you if you don't use a watch maker for your work.
As far as purchasig from me . Send me a Private Message and I can tell you what I have and how to purchase.

Well, two things... First, my apologies for I am stumped at how to send a personal message (it has to be be obvious, but I have not figured it out).
Second, I had a BB MT2398/203 that doesn't have enough crown (too flat) so that it rocks along the horizontal centerline (9 to 3). I used GS cement, and the crystal stays in, bit still rocks when pushed at the top or bottom of the crystal.
