I have recently purchased this 1977 Bulova Automatic and would appreciate some help in identifying it. The watch is currently being posted to me so I am unable to post the serial number or movement type until I physically receive it. \Thanks in advance. *UPDATE* - Watch now received and pictures updated. Watch has on the display, time, day/date, and features the words 'Bulova' . 'Automatic' . 'Swiss Made' Csse model number: N-115
If I might, I'd just like to comment here on the quality factor.
Bulova has always been right up there with the quality of the movts it has used in its watches, and this is no exception. In the 70's and 80's a lot of very well known and oftentimes far more expensive watches were using ETA Ebauches; Breitling, Rado, Wittnauer, Tudor, Tissot, Girard Perregaux, Panerai, the list is enormous. Looking back over Bulova history, the movts were always of excellent quality, and obvioulsy Bulova took very seriously the idea of competing with well established watch firms older than his own. By the late 70's everything was sliding sideways, and many companies went extinct, only to be revived within a few years, but some were gone permanently. Many of the upper echelon brands would have us believe that they have been in constant production since such and such a date in history, but few companies can actually say this and mean it.
Great job on the new photos Chris, having nice quality close up shots is a big help. I like the watch, it's a late seventies look that ages well. By this point in their history Bulova had pretty much dropped proper names for their watches. At best I'd hope we'll find an advert some day that gives us the production or model number. Right now I don't see anything in either of our ad dBs that matches.
Unknown will be my vote for this one.
