I just posted my grandfathers watch of similar vintage with almost the same dial however mine does not have "Bulova" above Accutron. Bulova 1969 | myBulova.com I did see an Advert (color ad) on this site that shows a very similar model (18k in all) but with a white dial face. I have to lean toward agreeing with the panel members on this one. The watch back should be 18k gold matching the case. Why would a maker skimp on the case back? However, but very unlikely, maybe the jeweler switched in out at the request of the buyer at point of sale due to an allergy issue. I do like the sticky fingers comment though. I don't presume to put words in his mouth (I know how much I hate that.) "BUT"
1. If he was the original purchaser/owner (purchased new) (Dune's age would be 70+) we should be inclined to take him for his word. However, that doesn't mean the jeweler didn't switch the back when new before sold? Contemplate this..!?
2. If it was claimed to be purchased new (from stories past down from dad, mom, aunt, uncle, grand dad, ect.......) a lot of truth disappears over time through word of mouth.
Either way, sure why he seams to get so defensive unless he has had the watch in his possession from day 1.
My 2 cents nothing more. Nice watch otherwise. Enjoy!
Hi,
My father [now passed away when he was 95] bought all his Bulova's from a local Bulova dealer called Jimmy Calvert in Darwen, Lancashire. UK. They grew up together. I wouldn't have though he had "sticky fingers" more like Fiddley Fingers having to work on precise movements etc.... The only time peice jimmy did coble together was a Bulova Mantle piece clock. The accutron movement broke and he inserted a cheap battery alternative
