Knickerbocker

Hi bulova lovers !

I think i find a knickerbocker '45. As we never sure, i will let the community nail this one.

Maybe i already nailed it.....

There have been several debates over this watch, as it appears to change names several times in a short period from 1941 to 1949. 

The result of previous discussions based on available ads and documented watches seems to be:

1941/43 - Comptroller  advertised on leather

1944 - ?

1943/46 - Knickerbocker (mesh band)

1947 - Clinton (mesh)

1948/49 - Chief (mesh)

In the later 3 versions, there seems to be ad overlap of the names, with the earliest version (Comptroller) being a stand alone advertised on leather with all names following sold on gold basketweave mesh bands. The first overlap seems to be in 1943, with the difference being the band.This example has a case date of 1944 (a first for the database under any name) with a movement dated 1943.

Based on the 43/44 date combination, I'm inclined to classify this one as a Comptroller on a period replacement band that has been on it a long time based on matching clean condition. Thoughts?

Here is an interesting one.  It is a 1946 Knickerbocker with a really cool engraving.   It is a 10KT yellow rolled gold plate case with engraving "Presented to Abe Brenner by First Krilower Cong."  I could not find any reference to the First Krilower Congress.   Has me stumped.  The dial is yellow gold applied hour markers with printed Bulova.  The seconds register has no numbers.  It has a replaced hour hand which needs to be replaced.  The movement is a 17J 8AE with a square date code.  

1946 Bulova Knickerbocker

I think this a 1946 Knickerbocker. I am looking to repair this watch and would appreciate any information on reputable repair businesses. Bulova said they no longer have parts available for this watch.  The outside case in marked 10KT ROLLED GOLD PLATE. The watched was refurbished by Bulova in the early 2000's

1946 Knickerbocker - In pretty good condition w/ non original band. Runs like a champ. Found the ad in the other 46 in the database

This appears to be a 1946 Knickerbocker.   It is a 10KT Yellow Gold Plate with a 8AH movement.  The date code is 46 and also 13.  Not sure about that.  It has a cream dial with yellow gold applied hour markers.  Just finished servicing it and added a new leather strap.  I will be on the look out for the orignal mesh bracelet.

Hi all  I think this one is a Knickerbocker, judging by its date 46 on movement and case serial number of 6442002. it is 10K rolled Gold plated and marked Bulova New York inside case. The strap is not original.
