I just like the shape of these Commanders. I am guessing it is a Commander AQ. What do you all think? The dial, hands and crystal are really clean. The base metal case has some errosion and corrosion around the back and sides. I think I will buff out the defects then try replating it.
Nice looking watch. I will agree it certainly appears to be a Commander. Can you confirm dial color? Is it silver, champagne or gold? Hard to tell in the photo. Is there a band of different texture or color shade arcoss the dial from the 3 to 9 or is that a reflection in the crystal?
Hi neetstuff-4-u,
The dial is a lightly textured pale gold or almost a champagne. The band running across it is smooth. The applied incices are light gold with black centers. The very yellow hands hands appear to be an index style. "Bulova" is black over an applied bold base. The watch is running but poorly and needs to be cleaned and or repaired.
Slight difference with your watch and the Commander AQ (AO in Stainless) and the similar Sea King BG. On those I do not see the center stripe on the dial, and those all state 30 Jewels on the dial, along with lume dots at each marker. All of those are in ads into the early 70s, and not real sure the difference between the two models.
I'm not too sure on this model id, but probably tentative with either Commander or Sea King.

Oops, Found a Commander advert dated 1974.....(sorry about that Bob)
I think at this point I'm tentative on a Commander ID
