Another eBay watch. Not so lucky on this one, definitely needs to be serviced. Won't run for more than a couple minutes at a time. Rotor is loose and noisy. Hey, you can't always get lucky, right? It's not in terrible shape though, I've seen worse. I believe it to be a Golden Clipper "A" variant. 17 jewel 11ANAC movement. Stainless steel hexagonal case. It came with an expansion band when I purchased it, but I've since switched it to an alligator grain that looks similar to the one in the original advert. I'm a bit surprised this watch didn't come with a metal band when new. I love the look of the crosshair dial with the whale logo and the bright red seconds hand that really makes it stand out. Should be a really nice watch once it's running properly.
Update: Well, all of a sudden the watch is working with no issues other than a noisy rotor. Runs smoothly and surprisingly very accurately. I'm kind of beside myself. The watch seemed to be running worse when it came back from the watchmaker (that I no longer use), a few days later I decided to take it out again, gave it a quick shake and it just... started running. Very odd. Something I noticed though is that it seems to have a higher beat rate than most of my other vintage watches. It looks more like 6 beats per second. I haven't been able to find much information on the 11ANAC unfortunely, and don't know if this is normal. Well, looks like I'll be taking this to my new jeweler/watchmaker and having the crystal replaced and case rebrushed to look like new.
