BULOVA M3

is inscribed on the back of the case. My grandmother's name, LU NELSON is also inscribed there. The band is composed of yellow, white and rose gold. According to the date code table, the watch was manufactured in 1978. It is fully operational and keeping accurate time.

Thank you for posting your watch.   I am not sure where the date of 1978 came from but the M3 indicates this is actually a 1963 model. I have yet to find a match to it though.

Apologies. My understanding was the date code was part of the case serial number. The first two characters are N8 which would be 1978. Thanks for clearing that up.

I scrolled through many pages on mybulova looking for a match with no success. I would call the case "diamond" shaped, but that was not an option. What would you call the case shape?

Cheers,
Adam

Adam, pre 1948 we can use the serial number method for most watches, but as of 48/49 Bulova introduced the seperate date code system. You can see your watch has the M3 code for 1963.

According to a 1963/64 Linebook your watch is a 1963 Bulova Dewdrop "D" (white gold version)

Outstanding. What do you suggest if I want to sell it? My wife inherited it from her Grandmother, and she will never wear it.

Good match; agree with Dewdrop, not sure if the watch is yellow or white gold?

I did have to think about that as well, but the watch is listed as white.

b1naryman can you please confirm the color of your watch case, not the band?

That's a clever dial design. You could wear that right-handed or left-handed and have the crown facing your hand. Just let the top dial marker represent 12 when you  set the time.

1963 Bulova Dewdrop "D" is a good match.
