Watch Description

This example has not be cleaned or serviced and was aquired by me on Nov 30, 2017. It is my understanding the movement is accessed by removing the crystal, which I am not competent to do; therefore, I cannot provide a movement description. The watch does run and kept reasonable time for the period observed after some winding. I am reluctant to activate the movement further pending servicing as I am unaware of the service history or condition of the movement currently or prior to my aquiring the watch. Case: 31.75mm, Case with crown: 33.17mm, Lugs: 17.56mm, Lug to lug: 38.2mm, Case thickness: 9.37mm. Signed Bulova: dial, case back. This Kreisler "1/20-10KT G.F. TOP" band appears original to the round case 1960 President line; however, this band seems associated with the other President variant in ads and other examples that I saw on this site and others.

Front access 1960 President it is. This ad shows the subject watch on a different band but also shows the band on another 1960 President variant. Variant of subject watch unknown at this point, but some more digging may remedy that.

The "Ship's wheel" Lugs are pretty distinctive and very cool. Almost has a "skull and crossbones" look about it. Excellent find, and it appears this is a first for the database. Congrats!

Thank you...  Also, I was wondering if there are any issues regarding originality, especially regarding the dial and hands. Thanks in advance.

Base on the ad I linked, it's my personal opinion that the face and hands are original.

Here is a zoomed photo of the dial for easier examination. Pardon if the photo is too large as I'm still learning the "insert" a photo process. There is some loss of the gold plating on the hour markers and numerals and to "BULOVA."

That is a real beauty. No doubt in my mind the face and hands are original. I personally would leave the face and hands alone and just have the watch serviced mechanically. As for the band; some folks like to put their watches back to "ad viewed condition". In the case of this watch, you have a great package here as it is. 1960 President on a ad verified 1960 President band.

Just found a second ad in the short ad section, second page - uploaded in Dec of 2012. It's a President "E" on an "F" variant band that was also used on Beau Brummels.  it's not entirely out of the question that the watch could have come from a jeweler on the band as you received it. Did it come from Bulova this way? who knows.  I like the band and the possibility it may be original and would leave it like it is. It's a handsome combination.

No intentions of changing anything. I have great respect for vintage watches in their original condition, in this case, after 57 years of existence. To my inexperienced eye, the watch seems well cared for and therefore, appreciated.

I was concerned about the lume on the hour/minute hands, which appeared to me unusual or crude perhaps, for lack of a better word, and wondered if someone had attempted to "touch up" the lume at some point. Good to see the information thus far seems to indicate the dial and hands are unaltered.

Thanks.

Based on how the ads look, I think the lume is unaltered - exactly how it is supposed to be, although discolored/flaked from time.

Looks like a perfect match to me. I think the hands had lume on the ends which match the advert.

1960 Bulova President.

In the 1958 Price guide there is a $75 President listed with the variant 'G'
