Watch Description

My latest flea Market find. Runs strong and accurate for the $5  I paid for it.. I looked through the vintage ads for the L4.."Bulova 23" is all I can find..Nice Sunburst dial. It had a goldtone expansion band on it. Nice, but it had curved end lugs, the case is straight across between the lugs, so I put a leather strap on her..I guess, you could chew on this one Guys..and give me the 411.           Thanks  Fellows

Bulova 23 from me. Matches the 54 ad second page upper right side.

Bulova 23 from me.  Looks like "C" (there's some other info on the dial of the "C" ad which isn't on dial of subject watch).  Also looks like "other 23's" with a case match, so its challenging to designate which variant.  Subject watch next compared to a few early "23" choices for comparison.

There is some additional writing on the dial of all but the straight 23 but it has no numbers and subject watch does.

I'm seeing some slightly different lugs on those examples I posted above.  Even the lugs in the "C" ad may be a little "longer" that subject watch.  Closest match to date is the 1957 "Generic" Bobbee posted above.  I got the pics for my comparison from Admin's The Bulova 23 series page, not from the actual ads.  Bobbee are you saying the source for that "generic" is actaully designated the "G" in the ad?

Yea and I see the 1957 "generic" doesnt appear to have the sunburst dial either.  I'm still not sure the "C" lugs are a match.  Different text on "C" and subject dial (althought both sunburst). 

Time for me to go with 1954 Bulova 23 no variant designation.

yep, and the subject watch was purchased for $5 in 2012.  Is there any investment grade Bulova- IMO no. It's intrinsic and collectors values which dictate.
To misquote Einstein: "One of the most powerful forces in the universe is compound interest".
$95 invested at .0375 interest compounded annually ~ $577.
