Watch Description

I recently dug this Bulova out of storage where it has been since at least 1975. It was from a family member of mine who is long gone and his name is even inscribed on the front. I am looking for help identifying the model of this watch and any other historical information about it as I am new to Bulova watches. Unfortunately, I do not know anything additional about the history of this watch other than I am thrilled to have a piece like this from my kin. Thank you!

Nice looking watch - I would catalog this watch as a 1947 Bulova Squadron A, like THIS one

Very nice, thanks for sharing your heirloom. Based on case s/n starting with an "8", it's a very clean looking example of

1948 Squadron "A"

I agree on the 1948 Bulova Squadron "A" ID.  First time I have seen engraving names on the lug covers.  Cool.

I appreciate all of the feedback! I have another heirloom Bulova to post still that was my great grandfathers. Question about the inscription on the caseback interior of my Squadron "A". Aside from the initials of the person who serviced the watch what else would they have inscribed? Date I assume? I'm trying to make sense of the numbers.

I am located near Pittsburgh, PA. Anyone relatively close to me who can suggest where to take old Bulova watches for servicing?

You can't make sense of the numbers I'm afraid, only the watchmaker that scratched them in there can. It's his/her code for the service that was performed. Every watchmaker has a different style / method.
