Don't know if this is a franken watch or what. The backcase has a sort of "lift" in it that holds and elevates the movement. And whats that diamond on the back of the case denote? Any ideas on this would be helpful. I'm thinking of having it fully restored.
Thanks

Hi Gilbep152, I suspect your watch may be in a non-Bulova case if there isn't a serial number on the caseback, as well as a Bulova signature. It appears the diamond is a manufacturer mark from someone besides Bulova. An asterix on movement would date the movement to 1941. As stated by Kathy, if possible we would like to see a photo of the movement and caseback inner surface.
I don't recognize the dial configuration either. Dial may be a jeweler "bling" of a standard Bulova dial, or it may have come with the case to compliment a Bulova movement.
Hello Gilbep152, it seems this might be an aftermarket case dial combination. There were several companies that sold replacement cases that included new dials. The intent was to allow a functioning movement a second life after the original case had worn out or been damaged. The design of the case was similar to the original manufacturers case so that the watch would look the same. We differentiate them in that they don't have Bulova markings and generally refer to them as 'Non-Conforming' as they don't conform to Bulova originality.
