Here is another one of the unknowns like this.

This is the third version of this case dial combination so clearly a factory model. The case is identical to the Phantom model and I am inclined to believe this is a later model of the Phantom with a sub second but until an ad comes up Unknown.
The case is yellow gold plate with a stainless case back. The dial is white with applied yellow gold hour markers and a sub second register. The movement is a 7AP 17J with an Omega date code.
If it were 21 jewels we'd all probably jump to IDing as a President, but the 17 jewelled movement keeps throwing us a spanner.
In saying that I did see a 17J President the other day, but it wasn't this time period.
Unless someone can find new evidence I say we should ID as previously done....Unknown.
OK finally found a possible contender. 17 jewels, sub-second and engraved case. Kathy found the original ad.
A 1939 advert for the Bulova Hunter.
Jim made the following observations:
As for the Hunter it looks like a Treasure / President Case. So just thinking
- 17J no Sub Second Treasurer
- 17J Sub Second Hunter
- 21J Sub Second President
As much as I’d like to ID this as a Hunter I can’t agree. The lugs on the Hunter/Treasurer/President are much longer. My example as well as the other two in the unknowns is a shorter case with shorter lugs. The Hunter is clearly a 17j sub second version of the Treasurer/President case. I’m still at unknown
Sorry guys, I've been having issues logging in, I have had intermittent luck for maybe a month or more now. It's not even the new computer as I thought it might be, the old one does it as well. Never had the issue before....
Anyway, based on the advert I have to say I agree it's not quite the match. It's entirely possible that the artist's rendering is exaggerated, but we don't know for sure.
Unknown.
