In a Ebay ad a 20's watch with a dust cover claiming it to be "THE WATCH HAS THE RARE HERMETICALLY SEALED MOVEMENT IN IT ""                 """ "

yea I hear it on ePay all the time too.... I guess is sounds "more expensive" to have rare and hermetically in the same sentence....

It's a Bulova patent and is basically just that, a dust cover.

Hermetic watches at one point were cases within cases, (Omega Marine, Tavannes Borgel, etc) and evolved into front loading compressor cases with no removable caseback. No one uses the term anymore, as dive watches now display their depth ratings on the dial. The Bully in question (a curvex, too, no less) as gsnowx1 and admin points out, is merely a celluloid dust cover, and is really not sealed in any way.
