Watch Description

This belonged to my mother-in-law.  It was inside a long rectangular white Bulova box with gold writing.  On the inside lid it says Diamond Romance by Bulova.  23 Jewels 14 Karat Gold.  A note in the box said she received it as a gift on March 31, 1962.

It has a stretch band, and each link has some writing on it, but it is so small that even with magnifiers I cannot make out what it says.  The watch shape is oval with 3 leaves on each end of the bezel.  Each leaf contains a tiny diamond (6 total.)  On the face of the watch it says Bulova and the number 23.  On the winder is the letter B.  It keeps time. The watch is silver in color, so my guess is that it is white gold?

On the back of the case is the number 545485 and 14K Bulova.  It is also engraved with the following: Thanks Millie Bob & De.

I cannot get the back case off.  I will have to take it to a jewler because I do not want to take a chance of damaging it. I have searched the web and only seen one that looks the same.  It was on worthpoint.  The site did not give any details about the watch except to show a picture of it.

You are very welcome!  Yes bands would wear out faster than the watch and were often changed out.  The nice thing is the original was a cord band that you can still purchase today if you wanted to bring it back to the original look.

After the other panel members have had time to add their opinions one of the admins will revise the ID for your watch.  Here is another ad for you.

Good ad finds and a beauty of a watch. Heirloom watches are the best!

1962 Diamond Romance "A".

Tentative on production year based on family history. Opening the watch for movement date code necessary to verify year.

Hello,  I finally took my watch to a jewelers and he removed the back and checked inside it for any numbers.  The only number he saw was M6.  Would this be the movement date code?  Do you know how I can edit my description and add this to it?  Thanks for any information you can provide.

I will have to take it to a jeweler to open, as I am concerned about damaging it.
