1941 Bulova Unknown 17J 10AX movement, Clean 10K RGP Bezel and Stainless Back, Nice Off White Dial and Gold hands, B/R 12K Gold Filled Band. Very Nice Good Running Watch!

This watch was previously ID'd as a Ambassador "A", but after acquiring a 1939 Ambassador and compairing the two, it belongs in the unknown catagory for now until another Lone Eagle "A" ad shows up. ;-)

The band in your picture looks like it was cut/split to go up the curve of the lug rather than stopping where the pins end. IMO it looks very strange and not at all what was intended by the watch design.

How would you be able to remove the spring bar? Remember the space between the lugs is only 8mm and between the rings is 10mm

The Ambassador has a 10mm between lugs probably because of the bigger case.

These narrow lug watches are never pictured with anything but these style bands.

It was very easy to remove the spring bar and install a leather band. No different from any other watch.

I'm still finding it incredulous that we ID watches all the time with a positive year ad... and yet we have one for this watch... but it's not what people want to hear.... somehow tarnishes the great name of the "Lone Eagle" so it's dismissed as a "typo" or artists confusion or whatever.

Either accept this.... or delete all other ID's we have with one or less ad's for that year. Sorry if it's not convienient for the crowd. Haha... and yes I'm feeling ornary.

BTW, if you still have that 1940 17J Ambassador, compare it to the measurments I posted on this one, bet they are the same.

I don't have a problem with it, but I do have a question, i.e., is the case in that ad engraved or not? It doesn't look engraved to me, but it's not the clearest of pictures.
