Hi to all.
This is my first post in this forum and I'm sure that it'll have a complicate answer. I'm only an amateur watchmaker and after some time I decided to buy some old bulova watches. Recently I purchased two Sky King' cases wit dial. I have seen in the archives two types of dials for this watch but one of this cases, has a possible third dial? Although the marking aren't for this case, the dial has the same form and measures.
Could somebody tell me if is possible this dial for this model or which bulova watch use this one?
Best regards.
Hello Pedro, welcome to myBulova. I think the dial on the right is an original Sky King dial. The shape of the minute track and the shape of the sub seconds track are the same as the watch case. My 'guess; (emphasis on the word guess) is that the dial on the left is a Sky King dial that has been repainted (refinished) but not exactly the same as original. I think I see a notch in the dial just above the 12? That might indicate that is was refinished.
I'm looking forward to you adding your watches to our data base when they are completed.
The only models I know that share this type of angled edge with inner track dial design are the Bulova Sky King and Kirkwood, but both of those have a curved/angled inner track and sub-second.
The Bulova Maxim model has a inner straight track similar to that of the dial on the left, but it's dial sides are curved and not angled.
So based on my observations there are two possibilities.
- the dial has been refinished at some point in its past as suggested by Geoff.
- it belongs to a yet unknown Bulova model.
Many thanks to both.
Geoff. Surely I will use the right dial in the first Sky king' case. I have bought the different pieces and I'm restored the first model. With the second case, I could the second dial. I have thought in the possibility, that said the admin, this dial could be an unknown Bulova model and perhaps to save it but if I decide to restore, how many would cost?
Best regards.
