Yea Shawn, I agree w/ your take on this choice. I'm gonna keep the watch anyway. I'll be doing a forum post which relates to this issue, and some of the challanges we face as we try to rebuild Bulova history and model ID'ing as it relates to the Lone Eagle series.
So Fifth mentioned the possibility of screw marks suggesting the movement wasn't original to the case. This is a good point, since the movement was removed for servicing, and again to place the current dial/hands which are not original to the early LECC's. I've looked, and don't see these markings. I see there are two different types of screws used, the flat screw at bottom of movement, and the rounder-headed screw at the top-seen below:
Subject movement also has an "arrow" which looks similar to a 1937 date symbol. Admin had discussed this as a possible defining characteristic in the first 5000 LECC's w/ the 10AN movement. Here's the "arrow" symbol on subject movement:
I also have a 1926 conqueror which houses a 10AP which may have this "arrow" see http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1926-conqueror-53 for comparison to subject watch.
