While I collect mostly art deco watches from Illinois, Hamilton, Elgin, Gruen and later Hamilton electrics -- my focus has been Hamilton and Illinois art deco models from about 1925-1932. However, after years of admiring the original Lone Eagle corner-cut design from afar, I want to get one. This classic art deco design needs to be in any serious art deco watch collection. This will be my first Bulova -- but likely not my last. If anyone has an extra Lone Eagle or Conquerer (the early corner-cut model) they are willing to sell or trade, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Rick
They do come up for sale on the auction sites from time to time, but you take a hard look at them, many are cobbled together Frankenbully's.
This is the right site to learn what to look for before you spend big $$ for one.
Welcome aboard! but beware of the "Bulova Bug"
Greg
Thanks Greg! Trust me, I know ALL about the watch bug!!! ;) Over the last 5-10 years I have been the underbidder on many Lone Eagles on eBay... perhaps mostly because I was in the middle of bad OCD issues on other watches at the time, and was normally already busy fighting a 3-front war. LOL After searching for EVERY variation of the Illinois Consul and Marquis, the Hamilton Oval, Square, and early Cushion, and enamel-bezeled Elgins... I again have an eye on getting a nice Lone Eagle. Luckily I have 2 eyes... ;)
