Picked this little lady up from ebay and she came with her box to boot! All for 6 bucks including shipping. I think she is a "COED" 1942.
At first when I saw the watch I thought it may be a Janet but after compairing the two it looks more like the Coed to me, as Geoff noted the lugs seems longer but my photo of the isnt the best. Also This had a silk bracelet band which was shredded. BTW would anyone have or know where I might be able to find a replacement? It also needs a new crown and stem. I may just offer it for a trade for a service booklet if anyone would be willing?

The use of this case style is found among different model names from early 1940s thru late 1950s, in yellow or coral/pink, with metal or cord band; and with or w/o engraving around the bezel: earliest is the Janet and then seen in the Co-Ed in 1944, and later the Marie is seen beginning in 1948. There may also be a difference in the length of the lug, as Geoff points out; very hard to tell in my opinion. Prior to 1944 there are no ads for the Co-Ed in this case, it is only seen using a different case style as seen here; the only ads pre-44 with this case are for the Janet in both 15 and 17 jewel. Since the subject watch is from 1942, I feel there are no ads to support it being the Co-Ed, leaving the Janet as the best match.
These two seem very similar, could this be another example of the band making the model? If we assume the silk cord is original, that makes it a Co-Ed, but if not it may be a Janet. Hard to say from the photos, but I'm not seeing a significant difference in the lugs....
We're going by the movt symbol for date making it a '42, but doesn't the serial make it a '44? Or am I reading it wrong?

The band could very well be the difference in these models. The problem I see is that Janet is advertised with a cord band (1946 plus a couple of others) or a metal band (1943). The Co Ed is only advertised with the cord type. There are a few ads from the 50s specifically advertising the Marie with metal band and the Co-Ed with the cord type, the earliest from 1951, but none of the ads from the 40s list that sort of distinction between bands in the same ad.
I think you are right about the case s/n making this a '44 - if so, I don't know which model this could be, since both Janet and Co-Ed are advertised with a cord - perhaps more towards Co-Ed since there is a matching 1944 ad.
