Do we have crystal specs for the engineer? This color add does not clearly depict the groove on the lugs, however looking at it closely they could be vaquely there in this artist rendition...if the crystal specs are the same I would say grooves =LE, no grooves= Engineer , all else being the same. At this point I have to agree with Fifth.
as discussed
The new Engneer ad is one of the clearest vintage age I have ever seen. The Engineer ad shows all the features of the Fifth's actual watch as do the ads for the Lone Eagle A when studied closely. We have learned alot about these look-a-like watches recently, due to ad acquizition by some of our research gifted members. Wasn't long ago we thought everyting shaped like this watch had to be an Ambassador of sorts, because we didn't have any ads to prove otherwise. I will go 3 stars for Lone Eagle A, "A" because when you have an "A" you gotta have a "B". Let's find the B.
Have a Great myBulova Day!
In reply to So, Fifth, why isn't this by NOVA
I rarely call a variant Lisa.
The general model Name is sufficient, particularly to new collectors searching the database who may not yet grasp the variant concept..
The Watch is missing its original Bracelet as depicted in the ad, for all We know the 1940 'LONE EAGLE' on a different Bracelet or Leather strap may be the 'B' 'C' 'D' 'E' etc, etc variant.
It would not be the 'A'.
IMO
as Wayne mentioned prior if there is an 'A' then there is a 'B' and possibly more.
* This type of lug with the ring machined at the tip is designed to accomodate a Leather strap, so the Watch would have been sold on either a bracelet or a strap, adding variants.
I recently acquired a case like this but with out the marking on the end of the lugs. I will be looking for a movement for it as soon as it is correctly identified. I will be posting my photos tomorrow finally and maybe you can all help me identify some of the watches I have been fortunate to acquire.
