Good cross check Bobbee....so maybe it's both?  LOL  The third party ads have a way of throwing us more Bulova curve balls....

Damn sloppy advertising, you ask me. Seen a couple in the 1960's ads, JP pointed one out as having a different name on the dial to the one advertised, even!

Hmm, I don't see a whale on the dial of any of the ads? Unknown.

I'm inclined to say Sea King too, but concerned about the missing whale.

Unknown from me....

Remember we have the 'tentative' rating on any watch we ID.

As Will said its better to have a watch given a tentative ID rather than add it to the Unknown pile. I agree.

I don't think we have yet to resolve what the Whale logo fully means and how it was used. Seems very randomly, but there must be a pattern or reason for it.

Waterproof, or resistant

Yep that's a given, but there are other models that are also waterproof or resistant that don't have the whale logo....It has to mean something extra.

Just had a random thought....I wonder if the whale symbol indicates that the particular watch has been tested and certified to a certain depth, say 333ft.

Other Bulova watches claim to be waterproof/resistant, maybe the whale indicated a true water resistant certification. What better symbol to use as an indicator of water resistant to a greater depth than a whale. Sorta makes sence, don't it?

I need to see when the 333ft and 666ft were used on the dial, same time as when the whale logo was used or after they stopped using the whale logo (if they did).

EDIT: changed waterproof to water resistant according to the watch resistant standard classification for watches.
