This fantastic Bulova 30 Jewel was presented to a Greyhound driver as an safe driver's award for 10 years. The dial sports a very sweet greyhound in full stride! The watch was found with it's inner and outter boxes as well as all documents presented with the watch to include the original jewelry stores guarentee!
Plaines,
Very cool piece. I don't think the Excellency Collection survived to the 1960s, therefore I doubt that the box is original to the watch. It would prolly take a week to prove it. I bought a watch one time in an Excellency box w outer cover, and the watch turned out to be a Wyler that didn't run. Some of our members are astute box collectors and could tell both of us all obout the box and maybe even the the date of extinction. I do hope I'm wrong, I would hate to see an unknown section on watch boxes. jk
Haha....
Acutally Geoff is our box guy. He told me that the boxes are correct for the time period, but he's pretty sure it's supposed to be blue inner, blue outter and white inner with white outter.
That being said, he doesn't doubt it was given to the guy from Greyhound in that configuration. Apparently stuff like that happened all the time in the jewelry stores. An inner box on display, when sold was put in an outter box that was grabbed off the shelf in the back or whatever.
So while maybe not techniqually correct.... it's original to this watch.
