This is a nice-looking watch. I'm counting on y'alls expertise to identify this increasingly weird watch as I plan to give it to my brother as a birthday gift.
The case is tonneau shaped and is stainless steel and was manufactured by Star Watch Case Company. The bezel is 10K RGP. It has a 23 Jewel 10BP movement, more about the movement below. The color of the dial is difficult to determine. Either the crystal has yellowed, or the face is gold colored, or this watch has the greatest patina ever minus the one small blemish. The hour markings are a really cool sunburst pattern with double tick marks at 12,3, and 9 positions. The 6 is not marked. There is also a sub-dial for the second hand.
The date code on the case is M2. But the date on the movement is M3. To my eyes, the date code is located in a weird place on the movement and where I expected the date to be located is another marking that looks like "6T". I'm still a nube...but all that seems werid.
I really like this watch and look forward to finding out what the heck it is. I also hope I don't fall in love with it and can execute the plan to give it away on my brother's birthday.
This one is indeed puzzling. There weren't many model lines in this time frame sporting a 23J movement.By process of elimination and comparing cases, I suspect this is a member of the Brigadier family. Here is one that is close that is also in a Star Watch Case Co. case with identical case stampings.
1964 Linebook lists Brigadier variants A, C and D. None is a match, but close. Could this be "B"? I'm not going to speculate on that, but suspect your watch is a
Brigadier (no variant assigned).
