A beautiful Bulova Roxane as found in the ads on this website of 1926 and 1927. It came with a 5PPI 17 jewel movement that until now was not in the database. On the movement is an intriguing triangle with the number 20 inside. The case is 18kt with 6 diamonds and 12 sapphires set in platinum. This watch is missing one sapphire. To be repaired!
Size is 14mm wide by 31mm high.
Great looking watch Alex. There certainly is a lot of beautiful packed into a small area with this one! I don't think there's any doubt on the ID, I think she's a Roxane too. I'm not sure on the date though, I don't think that triangle is a date code.
Wonderful watch!
What a wonderful watch you have!
The movement lacks a date mark, but has "Bulova W Co." on the bridge. We see this on pre-April 1923 movements, and "Bulova Watch Co." post this date.
No case sn (unsurprising), so we'll have to go with the earliest ad date.
1926 Roxanne, but possibly earlier.
Custom case made for Bulova. Using movement date pre-April 1923 is a start. Using ad date is also a start. Could be this Roxanne was advertised and/or sold by a unique model "number" before (or for a while during) it's being advertised/sold as Roxanne. Could be we don't have an earlier ad for either a "number" or "Roxanne".
I'm good with Roxanne, but not sure about a date. Do we go with date of first ad? ....or do we assume movement is correct and it's 1923 or earlier?
The triangle w/ 20 inside has occured on other Bulova movements of this period. I don't remember what Rev Rob told us about this mark, but I'll look for a couple related threads about this.
