Inside the case it says, BULOVA, FIFTH AVENUE, NEW YORK
On the movement it says BULOVA WATCH CO.
I don't really know much about watches so I'm sorry if Im short with my answers as I honestly don't have a clue what to say!! 😂
Anyway I appreciate any help and welcome all opinion, advice, and knowledge y'all have in this collectable watch world! Thank you
Thanks for sharing your nice watch with us! Based on the serial number starting with an "H" and the small "47" stamped on the movement, your watch is a
1947 Her Excellency "K"
Your 21 Jewel watch originally sold for $59.50 in 1947. Calculating for inflation, that would be $744.00 today. Not a cheap watch by any means. The original band can be seen in period ads referenced in the linked watch listings.
I will revise the date above for you.

Just WOW!!!! I haven't the words to express my amazement with this watch. I recently bought a storage unit that happened to have several watches. I never knew how watches worked (still fully don't) or had so much meaning to people and the era that they represent. I really appreciate your reply and thank you. I wish every watch I have was a Bulova because trying to date these watches is very difficult but in a sense rewarding as I have been thrust into the 40s and 50s!! 🎵🎶Doo-wop🎶🎵 😊
Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your watch with us. The Her Excellency line was very popular in the 1940s going into the early 1950s. They all have 21 jewel movements and were nicely made and all have a similar shape to the case with variations. The "K" is what we call a variant which is specific to this model within the Her Excellency line. Your watch is very nice and I think the band goes well with it.

Did all the watches from the same decade have "interchangeable" bands? The reason I ask is I have (I think) several watches from the 40s and 50s and looking online I'll find the case but different band or I'll see the band but different shaped case and also it'll be a different brand altogether. All this has my head spinning!!! Thank you for responding back so quickly I have been sitting at my desk for days trying to figure these watches out and this site has been the most helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to answer back!

Bands were certainly interchangeable, Most have a a clasp on each end thant can be undone to allow the band to be easily removed and replaced with a different style. There were companies that just specialized in watch bands, so it was fairly easy to customize or find buy one that was a better fit and feel that the original.

I agree that it is a 1947 Bulova Her Excellency K. So cool, I just purchased/posted one of these a few weeks ago (it is linked up above)! Welcome to the website (I am also new to myBulova and love it), the members are so nice and so helpful! It is also very fun to use the date codes/symbols/ads etc. to figure out the history of these watches!
