Hi All,
Just sold, With the permission of it's proud new owner dhhirsch, I present yet another fine example of a 1928-29 Lone Eagle.
What is intriging here is that the caseback serial # indicates 1928 but the movement is double date stamped with both the cresent moon and the shield indicating 1928-29.
I believe the band is original. For sure it's period correct.

Hi Stephen,
Sorry, I shipped it today. Can't keep the buyer waiting cause he's pumped up over this aquistion. I cleaned up the pic and blew it up a bit. The symbols are both on the barrel bridge, the moon on the bottem left end and the sheild just above the case screw. Best I can do now, would be to e-mail you a copy of the pic directly.

I would love to believe this is a 1929 transitional piece pre MKII for David's sake as this makes it very unique and rare. That would also explain the use of NOS 1928 parts inventory being used up to fill 1929 order's prior to the launch of LEII's .That makes perfect business sence to me.
Me too. It makes sense because the first ads for the lone eagle mk 1 are from june 1927, the mk 2 is june 1929, the earliest ads I have seen for the mk 3 is late June 1931 and the mk 5 lone eagle is April 1934 and it announces it as "the first showing".
The new mk 4 I think was never "officially" launched as such, because of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping in march 1932 and the discovery of his murder in may 1932, as seen in the thread below.

..or the "new mk 4" didn't exist and is simply an advertisering error, as discussed.
Bracelets of this style are first advertised (in the ads We have to Date) in 1931 http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1931-1.jpg
'LONE EAGLE'
?
Bracelet as we can actually see on this watch is first seen on the 1934 wandering seconds hand President, in this ad that we have in the ads here: http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1934-…
as pictured and previously noted on the first page of this thread.
The evidence is as seen in ads and as read for the new model, and any genuine proof otherwise has yet to be seen anywhere.

Addressing the exact same band as on the subject watch, then Yes, you are correct. We don't see it in ads until 1934.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, we do see this style of band introduced as early as 1930 but not the exact same band as you have pointed out.
Anyway, since the watch is from 1928-29 it's really just a moot point.
